Intergenerational Program Guide – Questionnaire

Intergenerational programs consist of planned activities that bring together different age groups and often involve the sharing of skills, knowledge or experiences between generations. Such programs have positive impacts on the well-being of seniors and older adults as well as younger generations. They are also a way to challenge ageism which the World Health Organization defines as the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) towards others or oneself based on age. Ageism is not just aimed at seniors; it is experienced across the lifespan including by children, youth and young adults. With Newfoundland and Labrador’s aging population, it is imperative that we consider how to improve social and community inclusion for seniors, including through intergenerational engagement opportunities. The following questionnaire will assist the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development in developing an Intergenerational Program Guide to promote and support intergenerational programs and activities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
