Creation of an Early Learning Action Plan

Overview

The Department of Education is currently undertaking the development of a Newfoundland and Labrador Early Learning Action Plan, which will also include a legislative review of the Child Care Act and regulations. The Department via the Child Care Act sections 33.1 and 33.2 is mandated to review the Act and its regulations every five years in order to assess areas that may be improved.

As the purpose of the engagement is multilayered, the Department is seeking input from individuals and organizations involved in the child care sector on topics related to the creation of a Newfoundland and Labrador Early Learning Action Plan including the review of child care legislation (Act and regulations) and its early learning programs.

If fewer than five participants are registered for a session, a session may be rescheduled or alternate arrangements will be made to consult stakeholders.

Virtual Session:

For those who would like to participate in and/or provide feedback on the creation of an Early Learning Action Plan but cannot attend a public session, there will be an online session.  The virtual session will be scheduled at the conclusion of the in-person sessions. This includes individuals such as: parents, guardians, foster parents, extended family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.), and individuals who have custody of children.

How will your input be used?

The information received will be reviewed by the Department of Education, Early Learning and Child Development Division. All feedback will be considered for the creation of the Newfoundland and Labrador Early Learning Action Plan and in the review of the Child Care Act.
