Forest Management Planning Process

As part of the sustainable forest management planning process, the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources develops draft forest management plans with input from individuals and organizations interested in, or affected by, forest management activities in their areas. The Department is currently undertaking forest management planning in Zone 5 (Forest Management Districts 10, 11, 12 and 13) for the 2021-2025 planning cycle. These districts encompass all crown land located on the Central portion of the province and include larger municipalities such as: Bishops Falls, Botwood, Point Leamington, Grand Falls – Windsor, Badger, Millertown and Buchans.

In accordance with COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines an in-person public consultation session planned as part of this Zone 5 forest management planning process has been cancelled.  Alternatively, the public consultation for the Zone 5 forest management process will be hosted here at engageNL.
