Review of Private Training Institution Regulations

Now Closed

This online engagement was hosted on engageNL from March 4 to March 31, 2020. Below is a record of this engagement.

Overview

Private Training Institutions (PTIs) are governed by the Private Training Institutions Act and Regulations. The Private Training Institutions Act and Regulations are used to monitor and oversee the operations of private training institutions and to protect students enrolled in programs at those institutions.

The Regulations are designed to outline requirements of Private Training Institutions for things such as registration processes, instructor qualifications, student contracts, tuition fees, student refunds, program advertising guidelines, and various other administrative and operational considerations.

The Act and Regulations underwent substantial revisions in 1999. The private training industry has evolved over the past 20 years and many of the regulations, processes and terminology are outdated. Student protection is a key component of the regulations, and this update will help ensure a quality educational experience for you.
